About Us
Faes AR is the first app created by the ARaura team, marking our entry into developing augmented reality solutions for niche market enthusiasts.
In the spring of 2020, ARaura was founded with a simple idea: If our avatars can look incredible in video games, why can’t we use augmented reality to enhance our own appearances in videochat, and even in the real world? Why couldn’t we get to wear skins? This idea sparked our journey into exploring the potential of AR technology.
As we delved further, it became clear that digital self-expression is deeply personal and varies widely from one individual to the next. To embrace this diversity, we set out to create a toolkit that allows users to design custom AR outfits and to control how they express their digital identities in ways that truly reflect their preferences and needs.
As passionate role-playing gamers and sci-fi fans, we decided to begin by catering to the tabletop role playing (TTRPG) community—a place that felt like home to us. The idea of embodying NPCs and unique characters within the worlds of our favorite game settings felt both familiar and exciting—a perfect starting point for our journey.
Our Mission
Faes AR aims to enhance the online TTRPG experience by addressing a critical piece of the online gameplay setup—the video feed. While online sessions have become incredibly immersive with the help of audio and visual tools and VTTs, something essential to role-playing often gets lost in translation when it comes to video chats. They can feel stressful, invasive, overly personal, and, ultimately, mundane—more like work than play. Our mission is to transform these interactions into something dynamic and engaging by equipping players with tools to visually embody their unique characters and GM’s to visually become the NPCs within the game world.
In the fall of 2024, we connected with the community through interviews and surveys involving 75 GMs and 25 players. Here’s what we learned: the magic of TTRPGs lies in the human connections forged during role-playing, within a fantasy realm that offers freedom from the struggles of everyday life. It’s part escape, part personal growth, and part pure entertainment. You’ve told us how role-playing has taken on an even more significant role in today’s increasingly stressful world.

Meet The Team
The Araura co-founders are hard core gamers, sci-fi readers and digital industry professionals. We are a mix of sales and leadership in Mike Webber, software development and product ownership in Connor Harty. We came together over a shared desire to make the spatial internet epic.
A media executive and entrepreneur with 20+ years of experience in building businesses and selling to big brands and agencies. Webber was previously a Business Lead at Snapchat, running large cross-functional teams driving sales from fortune 500 companies. Prior to Snapchat, Webber was the main songwriter and lead singer of Montreal based post punk band the Snitches producing 4 albums and signing with Interscope at Universal Music.
Connor has over 20 years of experience in fullstack development, team management, and product ownership. Connor leads the tech development of Faes AR, development partnerships, and implementation of our patented rules engine.
